Treasury is responsible for the cash and investment management activities of the AARP enterprise. This includes maintaining sufficient liquidity for operating needs, maximizing earnings on investments within policy guidelines and efficiently processing daily transactions.

The Risk & Insurance Analyst assists in general operations of AARP's insurance management program. Coordinates the collection of loss exposure and underwriting information and preparation of applications for placement and renewal of appropriate levels of insurance coverage. Works with claims administrator to ensure all claims are managed appropriately. Provides guidance and advice to staff across AARP who require insurance coverage or who need to file a claim.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and coordinate the collection of data for placement of renewal and new insurance coverage in collaboration with insurance brokers and internal staff, updating property values by location, completion of insurance applications, updating data specific to the various types of coverage, and processing insurance invoices.
  • Work with claims administrator and claimants to ensure claims are administered timely and appropriately. Provide expertise in the administration of claims related to workers' compensation, general liability, auto liability, property, and other covered risks across a nationwide operation.
  • Provide guidance and advice to staff across AARP who require insurance coverage or who need to file a claim. Coordinate with internal constituents to understand workers compensation-related risk exposures and work to develop protocols that help to prevent injuries.
  • Provide support to the Director of Insurance Management for broader risk management services, such as risk consulting to business partners, contract reviews, claims review, and certain budget and financial needs.
  • Perform contract reviews and evaluate appropriate insurance requirements for vendors doing business with AARP. Ensure that evidence of insurance is received and renewed timely.
  • Prepare statistical and narrative reports on risk management issues that identify, evaluate, and prioritize risks faced by the organization to assist the Director of Insurance Management in developing sound business recommendations for business unit initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Risk Management and Insurance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of insurance/risk management experience in a large corporate, governmental, or non-profit environment or in performing insurance analysis/underwriting for multiple types of commercial coverages.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in insurance analysis/underwriting.
  • Relationship management skills with internal and/or external clients (e.g. management, claimants, claim administrators, colleagues, etc.).
  • Ability to conduct analysis and create forecasts on expected claims based on historical claims data.
  • Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on complex assignments.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
