Overview: By Light has an opening for an Azure Cloud Systems Engineer position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model. Responsibilities: Integrates new technologies into new and existing systems, including the transition and migration of corporate systems to the cloud.Participates in cloud system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.Contributes to completion of specific engineering programs and projects.Improves reliability, quality, performance for cloud-hosted applications.Develops solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems.Perform complex systems design, development, and integration from the start of a systems life cycle to the end.Oversees complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.Performs complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems.Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology.May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.May serve as a team or task lead.Provides management and consulting services to support cloud services and security.Develops cloud services strategies and provides recommendations on how to transform business solutions using private and public cloud services, including models such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Lab as a Service (LaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).Provides consistency in the cloud computing business and service delivery models within the ARNG enterprise, including an organizational roadmap surrounding cloud initiatives, best practices, and frameworks enabling standardized cloud services capabilities to create, execute, and manage enterprise cloud business solutions to achieve lower total cost of ownership and to drive more cost-effective operations. Required Experience/Qualifications: 8+ years relevant IT experience, with 5+ years specifically operating and managing Azure infrastructure.BA/BS or equivalent years of combined experience and traininAzure or AWS Foundations cloud certification.Experience provisioning and managing Azure infrastructure to include VMs, storage accounts, block storage, VNETs, Network Security Groups and custom roles/permissions.Knowledge of DNS services, DHCP, Azure Key Management & Microsoft SQL Server.Experience with managing Azure Active Directory.Experience provisioning and managing Azure Virtual Desktop backend hosting & Azure IoT.Experience provisioning and managing Azure VPN Gateways, Azure Firewalls, VNET peering and Azure User Defined Routing.Understanding of on-premise to cloud connectivity using VPNs & Azure Express Routes.Understanding of L2/L3 networking fundamentals.Strong understanding of Cloud Migration methodologies and best practices. Expertise in cloud service delivery models.Experience with managing & monitoring cloud-based infrastructure, security, and application environments.Possess the appropriate baseline certifications to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II. Preferred Experience/Qualifications: Possess an ITIL(R) v3 or ITIL(R) 4 Foundation or a higher certification in either category.
