The Regional Medical Director of Cardiology may also provide indirect supervision of the echo/vascular ultrasound technicians in their markets. The RMDC focuses on leading the market's cardiology care initiatives and care teams as our members transition through the medical centers and the healthcare delivery system. Builds and Advises Cardiology Care Teams in Virginia Assists the Regional Market Chief Medical Officer (RMCMO), in managing day-to-day clinical and business operations and building positive relationships with providers and patients. Oversees cardiovascular and imaging-related quality, procedures, outcomes, and costs for their markets. Provides oversight of the cardiology-based programs in the medical centers in assigned markets. Collaborates with the National Director, Cardiology and Imaging to establish short- and long-term goals that align with the company's objectives Direct Patient Care Responsibilities: Directs patient care for the market's patients including the following: cardiovascular disease, device checks, vascular disease evaluations, cardiovascular-related procedures or coordination with hospitalists/interventionalists, and close communication with PCP's and care teams. Reviews PCP requests for external cardiology referrals and participates in delegated utilization authorizations; determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral / consultation appointments. Determines the most appropriate treatment for patient, ie individualized treatment. Provides continuous leadership and support in the areas of: patient education related to heart disease, wellness, prevention, and early detection, including supporting market HF clinics, and other patient education initiatives. Ensures new or urgent cardiovascular consultations are screened within a timely manner. May participate in Targeted Coverage Time ' time spent providing care for patients whose cardiologist is on paid time off or otherwise unavailable.
