Position Summary
The Shift Supervisor facilitates the daily program operations and activities that would enable a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for clients. The Shift Supervisor must ensure a smooth transfer of operations between shifts. The responsibilities include the coordination of communication between staff, residents, security, and other service providers.

 

  • Develop a positive rapport with each resident through routine contact and communication Ensures the cleanliness, safety, and security of the facility by collaborating with the security and janitorial vendors Supervise staff and ensure that they are following established policies and procedures Immediately report serious incidents, allegations, and sensitive program information to the Site Coordinator and Program Manager Complete incident reports In the absence of the Site Coordinator serve as the primary liaison between external and internal partners to include; DHS, TCP, law enforcement Respond to immediate client needs, help de-escalate crisis situations, help resolve conflicts and enforce program rules Conduct random locker inspections per program rules to ensure cleanliness Ensure that all HMIS data is completed and work with the Data and Evaluation team to ensure data integrity Participate in program team meetings, staff meetings, supervision meetings as required and requested per contracts Build and maintain quality working relationships with colleagues, external and internal stakeholders Participate in program quality improvement activities that improve program policies, procedures and client and program outcomes Adhere to agency policies and procedures Other duties as assigned

This is a seasonal position for hypothermia season lasting from November 2022 - April 2023.

Requirements

 

  • BA degree and 1 year of direct social services experience; or HS diploma or equivalent and 2 years of direct social services experience; or HS diploma or equivalent and 5 years of work experience Experience working with vulnerable populations and the related issues of addiction and mental illness strongly preferred Familiarity with DC’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Knowledge of issues facing homeless or otherwise vulnerable populations Values commensurate with a community committed to providing inclusive services without regard to race, religion, physical or mental ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity Experience with, or capacity to learn, data visualization techniques and software

 

 

 

 

 

 

Skills and Competencies Required

 

  • Strong cultural competence, including excellent interactions and communication ability with a diverse population Mature abilities in developing interpersonal relations, communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution Ability to multi-task with strong organizational skills Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn a database system Ability to work independently Possess crisis management skills Excellent written and verbal communication Detail oriented and analytical thinker
