ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking a Tracking Segment Lead Systems Engineer and the work can be peformed in Chantilly, VA, Denver, CO or Huntsville, AL.This contract includes supporting the Mission Systems Engineering & Integration (MSE) support for a government customer in the areas of space systems Tracking, Transport and Ground segments. The role of the team is to ensure the segments operate in unison to support mission scenarios and experiments, specifically: the Ground Segment Elements function as an integrated entity providing telemetry, tracking and commanding (TT), mission data uplink/downlink, mission planning and payload tasking, constellation operations, and network management in support of on-orbit demonstrations; System, cross-Segment, and external dependencies and interfaces are understood, documented, and managed.Systems engineering support is provided to system-level and segment level systems engineering activities so that they have support beyond what is provided by the space vehicle (SV) and ground contracts; and Gaps in support for launch operations, mission operations, security, information technology (IT), and other areas have a means for closure.The Tracking Segment Lead Systems Engineer supports a the program which is focused on Mission integration of a new Space Domain architecture. Responibilities include: Assessing the capabilities planned for the Tracking (Wide Field of View) Satellite Vehicles and supporting the Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) to develop and implement a plan to ensure that the combined system will be able to support the mission capabilities. Mission operations (demo and other flight test planning) has a direct interface with the Warfighter and brings together Wide Field of View satellites with a new satellite communication network utilizing optical links and mesh networking capability and a new ground architecture to deliver low-latency, high bandwidth data to DoD elements already conducting critical warfighter missions. The Tracking Segment Lead Systems Engineer will lead a team that supports the LSE to develop and mature requirements for a "Capstone" demonstration. This is a fast-paced program that will deliver a capability to support the warfighter in the next 9 months and lay the groundwork for the follow-on tracking system development. A focus of this role is working with more than one SV vendor to identify gaps in the architecture and interfaces and refine the CONOPS based upon expected Segment capabilities. Specific Tasks include: Support the Capstone detailed design, analysis, planning, and integration activities Develop a detailed Mission Operations integration plan in coordination with stakeholders Work with the stakeholders (Segments, Users, Partners) to define operational details, lower-level use cases (mission elements or components), requirements, interfaces, and controlling documents Evaluate the demonstrations, simulations, and testing required to demonstrate mission capability and document the interfaces, internal and external operations and resources required to successfully accomplish them Support the development of planning documents, memorandums of agreement or understanding, and any other documentation required Manage, assign, review work products developed by members of Tracking Team QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: BS degree and 12-15 years experience or MS degree and 10-13 years experience Ability to communicate status with senior Government Leaders at appropriate reviews Understanding of TCPED with respect to Space Systems (end-to-end) Experience supporting integration activities for a similar satellite system Experience defining the space to ground interface requirements for a tracking satellite Experience with Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS), Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS), or similar space-based IR missions Experience with Missile Defense Agency missions Excellent ability to present status to Senior Government leaders Experience leading a small (3-8) team of engineers Willing to travel Government/Vendor sites as needed for integration activities Minimum TS Clearance required with eligibility for SCI OverviewPeraton drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
