Blattner Family Law GroupDo you want to help people in contentious divorces protect their finances and maximize time with their children? If so, we are seeking a Senior Family Law Attorney to join our growing team and assist our clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Jobseekers should be equally familiar with prenuptial agreements, divorce, alimony, child support, and adoptions, and be able to effectively engage in oral debate and negotiation even in highly stressful and emotional situations. This job requires independence and autonomy. The individual performing the job would be required to take action without guidance, and without close follow-up or supervision of the results by others. Jobseekers will be able to perform high-level, strategic thinking and analysis, and rapid decision-making. The work focuses aggressively on goals, and sticking to those goals even in the face of adversity. Persistence and determination are required to keep moving towards the goal. The work does not require great attention to the details of how to get there; those details can be delegated. The position is about taking action, forcefully and quickly. Risky decisions will have to be made quickly. Constant changes and challenges require that these decisions be made often without precedent or an abundance of information. New ventures will be undertaken at a speed that requires decision-making before all the facts are in, before what's being undertaken can be "proven" to be successful. Self-confidence and strong personal resolve are necessary to keep constant forward progress. The job requires a keenly task-focused individual to analyze situations, systems, and problems. Different problems will arise daily. Success depends on examining the problem, putting together seemingly disparate elements, and arriving at quick solutions. Holders of this position will need to speak frankly and directly, not "holding back" or mincing words. Should the work involve managing other people, delegation of details will be more prevalent than delegation of authority. This person will need to follow-up to ensure that things were completed correctly, digging into the details only to a minimal extent, and only when necessary to get things back on track. Achieving results is critical. This job requires a proactive nature and strong individualistic drive. If you are driven by an opportunity to help people during one of the toughest times in their lives and have a proven track record of success, apply now.JOB CHARACTERISTICSLarge variety of activities; each day is different from the nextFast-paced, rapidly changing environmentTechnically focused: solving problems rather than building relationshipsComplex analytical problems need to be solvedTroubleshooting issues, analyzing data, and arriving at solutionsRapid decision-making without lots of dataSelf-reliance in making decisions without requiring lots of input from othersDirect and to the point; "telling" rather than "selling"Ability to speak frankly and honestly, even about unpopular decisionsLittle collaboration necessary; most activities require individual achievementDelegation of details, especially to familiar individualsStrong leadership neededResponsibilities Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process Review legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of casesRegularly prepare and attend court appearances for conferences, hearings and trialsRendering legal adviseConduct strategy sessions with clientsQualifications Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high 4-year degree with a legal background and JD degree are necessary for this position Strong preference for candidates with at least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issuesLicensed to practice and in good standing in MarylandTrial experience preferredApplicant must prepare and submit a cover letter with no more than TWO paragraphs and a closing sentence.
