ResponsibilitiesPeraton is looking for an Electrical / Controls Engineering Technician to support the Thermal Vacuum group and Facility Engineering group at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. They will under the general direction of our engineering supervisor performing routine and non-routine assignments. The responsibilities will include supporting PEB Milestones and Maintenance Operations: Ability to fabricate electronic assemblies and harnesses. Ability to operate, perform preventative maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to ground stations. Fabricate wire harnesses for payload checkout, testing cables for component, circuit board and deck testing, launch support cables such as programming bus, blockhouse and umbilical cables, flight harness and flight cables. Assemble circuit card assemblies and test point to point wiring. Use electronic equipment and related devices for one or more of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, construction, and testing. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems (ie, those that typically can be solved solely by properly interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents) in working on electronic equipment. Work involves familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits, the exercise of judgment in determining work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments that are usually less complex than those used by the technicians. Ability to use electronic equipment and related devices for one or more of the following: soldering, forming, testing and/or molding experience on circuit boards. Assignments may include the calibration of electronic and instrumentation equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned or required by management. Will be required to acquire GSFC specific training. Communicate with Group Lead and customers as required to complete tasks. Must be capable of successfully completing the following training: hazard communication, personal protective equipment, IT security and other required training May need to Travel 10% QualificationsRequired Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 5 years' experience related to electrical systems and/or general electronic experience. Experience with the use of schematics in everyday assignments-drafting, designing, constructing, and troubleshooting. Ability to work from well-defined specifications contained in sketches, diagrams, and drawings to carry out assignments. Familiarity with hand tools and mechanical principles. Basic proficiency in general math calculations, PC tools, MS Office, E-mail, and Web applications Desired Qualification: Associate degree in a technical field is preferred. Effective communication and positive interpersonal skills with ability to work well in a team-oriented atmosphere.
