Project Billing Accountant
The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Project Billing Accountant at our headquarters in Leesburg, VA. Responsibilities and Duties will include but not limited to: Review contracts and extract financial and billing information Establish project set up, within Deltek/Costpoint, of commercial and federal projects for T, FFP, and CPFF contracts in accordance with the contract Participate in new project set up meetings to ensure project setup optimizes accounting software capabilities for project revenue and billing Perform monthly reconciliation of unbilled accounts Prepare and submit invoices into third-party electronic billing portals such as WAWF, IPP, VIPERS, the GSA Finance Portal, and other government sites Prepare and provide monthly Project Status Report (PSR) from Costpoint to the Project Managers and senior leadership Review detailed costs to ensure accuracy in coding and communicate any corrections with the appropriate employee Monitor contract funding, and coordinate with project manager, contract managers/administrators to identify risks, required notifications on limitations, and requests for additional funding as needed Support efforts to develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of the project/task number structures and provide suggestions for process, procedure, and workflow improvements Manage and set up newly assigned customer agreements submitted to accounting for billing and revenue recognition Manage and report to Senior Project Billing Accountant on weekly AR Aging reports, following up timely with customers on outstanding invoices. Assist with monthly and year-end closing Additional ad hoc reports as requested by PMs and Senior leadership Skills & Requirements Required Qualifications: Must have Costpoint experience with an emphasis in the Projects and Billing modules 2+ years of billing experience in a government contracting environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Accuracy, attention to detail, and time management skills Knowledge of accounting protocols, policies, and procedures Understanding of government contract accounting, Federal Acquisition Regulations FAR, Cost Accounting Standards CAS, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP, and Defense Contract Audit Agency DCAA standards Strong analytical, problem solving, planning, and organizing skills Ability to manage multiple projects at one time Highly skilled with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
