Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a management consultant with demonstrated study coordination, research, and IRB experience to deliver high-quality project management to the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development.

This position requires strong research and client interaction skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across multiple tasks. Experience leading and managing projects in alignment with client goals, while managing resources and mitigating risks, is required for this position. The successful candidate will be highly organized, systematic, and proactive in managing quality and exceeding client expectations within a fast-paced environment. This individual will work to ensure research is conducted in accordance with regulation and/or institutional policy (e.g., FDA, IRB, NIH, VA).

This immediate hire, full-time position is 100% remote.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and programmatic support for a study investigating complications of diabetes among Veterans, which includes three components: a multi-site randomized controlled trial, a budget impact analysis, and provider and patient interviews.
  • Help to draft and revise a manual of operations for study activities, including detailed instructions for patient selection and recruitment, data collection, inter-site data sharing
  • Complete and revise IRB paperwork for the main site and provide support for regulatory paperwork for local site investigators.
  • Revise recruitment materials and related documents
  • Work collaboratively with the research team in Seattle and the research teams at other sites
  • Assist with drafting and obtaining data use agreements and contracts
  • Conducting database administration, audits, and project tracking through Excel spreadsheets or related project management software
  • Working with the research team to ensure that all documents are complete and accurate.
  • Fielding general and regulatory questions from investigators and study team.
  • Using checklists and instructions to verify completeness of checklists and protocols.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in health administration, public health, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
  • 4-6 years of study coordination, relevant project management, research, and/or IRB experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with VA/DoD and knowledge of military populations.
  • High level of experience and comfort working independently with senior leadership, investigators, faculty, staff, students, medical professionals, and external agencies in complex organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of the scope and function of the IRB as well as the rules and regulations governing the conduct of human subjects research (e.g., VA, FDA, IRB, and GCP regulations)
  • Expertise in effective training, education, and presentation techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant computer programs, including IRB web-based software (IRBNet experience preferred) and Microsoft Office suite, including MS Teams and SharePoint data/electronic file management tools.
  • Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written skills, including technical writing capabilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and manage deadlines.
  • Must possess discretion and mature judgment, as confidential information is routinely encountered.
