Paralegal I - Sign On Bonus Available!Job Category: Service Contract ActTime Type: Full timeMinimum Clearance Required to Start: DOJ MBIEmployee Type: RegularPercentage of Travel Required: Up to 10%Type of Travel: LocalWe are seeking a paralegal with a certificate from the ABA. The paralegal will perform duties involving the processing of legal work, including preparation of legal correspondence using independent judgment in content and style, and performing a variety of legal, technical and administrative functions (ie, data gathering, research and analysis) to support organizational activities. What You'll Get to Do:Act as a liaison between legal and administrative staff.Perform legal research for facts relating to matters of interests.Assist in drafting legal documents. reviewing documents to extract selected data and information relating to specific items.Review and summarizing information in prescribed format.Review case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration.Review case files and noting and correcting case file deficiencies.Review and analyze available precedents relevant to cases under consideration. gathering and reviewing data to discover patterns.Oversee reproduction of legal records and other documents.Maintain case records.Assist attorneys in developing office procedures, operations manuals and filing systems.Conduct inventory of files and making recommendations on changes to record collection and retention. scanning documents.Perform special projects and other assignments as may be required.You'll Bring These Qualifications:Requires paralegal certificate or a JD may be substituted with approval from the COTR.At least one year of litigation paralegal experience required.Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Automated litigation support experience valued.Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research. Role also requires basic familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision; and ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure.Must be eligible for a Dept. Of Justice MBI security clearance. (US Citizenship required.)These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:FOIA experience desired.Bluebooking experience desired.Relativity experience desired.Federal litigation experience desired.Trial experience very helpful.
