** This role will be completely remote, sitting anywhere within the US**ICF seeks a talented Princical Software Engineer with demonstrated leadership experience to design and build sophisticated IT systems in the healthcare and life sciences domains. You will be working on projects that support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Our teams are improving platforms that collect healthcare data from hundreds of thousands of daily users. That data helps define decisions made on healthcare policy, government spending, and, most importantly, patient care. You will bring your expertise in software development to lead and guide our team in an Agile environment that has a major impact on healthcare in our country. If you are driven to use your talent to build software using a modern, cloud-based technology stack that makes a difference, we would love to share more about this opportunity.What you'll be doing:Provide leadership and serve as a senior development resource for development teamsTake a lead role in all stages of software development including planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and releaseDevelop application architecture that supports requirements for system performance, scalability, security, extensibility, and manageabilityDefine proper architectural approaches for clustering, fault tolerance, transaction processing, state management, caching, queuing, batch, sync/async, etc. to ensure performance, stability and maintainabilityPresent and defend architectural, design, and technical choices to internal and external audiencesConceptualize and develop prototypes to test multiple design and architecture concepts using various tools/frameworks to determine the optimal approachDevelop and test architecturally significant and complex aspects of the systemConduct and lead code review sessions to ensure high quality softwareEstablish best practices and ensure that they are followed by the development teamsProactively learn new technologies, standards and applications; keeping current with technology developments within the industry by continually reviewing literature and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projectsProvide assistance in developing technical proposals in response to federal requests for proposals (RFPs)Evangelize and drive technology architectureWhat you must have:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or other IT or STEM related field)10 or more years of experience in Software development and applicationsMust have lived in the US for 3 of the past 5 years and be able to obtain a Public Trust clearanceMust currently reside in the USWhat we'd like you to have:Experience with data analysis and reporting using tools like R and PythonExperience with ORM frameworks like Sequelize, Hibernate, Entity FrameworkExperience with unit test frameworks like JUnit, HttpUnit, DBUnit, EasyMock, SeleniumExperience working in the healthcare industryFederal Government contracting work experienceExperience with frameworks such as Express, Flask, and SpringExperience with messaging solutions like SQS, Kafka, Rabbit MQ, JMSExperience with various data formats such as JSON, YAML, XML, RDF, OWL, CSV, Parquet, AvroStrong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyFlexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessaryDemonstrated time management skillsStrong organizational skills with attention to detailExperience engineering enterprise applicationsExperience as a lead developer/architect including a background in microservice, REST, and SOA design principles in SolutioningExperience working with AWSExperience with languages such as Node.js, Python, Angular/React, Scripting in Unix/Linux (Bash, PowerShell)Experience with Database Modeling and Development to include Postgres and Oracle.Why you'll love working here:Generous vacation and retirement plansComprehensive health benefitsFlexible work locationDiverse workforce that values equality and inclusionOngoing training and development opportunitiesFriendly community with lots of social eventsParticipation in charity initiativesEmployee support program#SB-22#LI-NK1Working at ICFWorking at ICF means applying a passion for meaningful work with intellectual rigor to help solve the leading issues of our day. The salary range for Colorado is -$129,898.00-$220,826.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
