Jacobs is currently seeking a Technical Writer to provide technical writing support for web-based and instructor-led training courses and various contract-required deliverables. The Technical Writer will be part of a collaborative Team delivering highly sophisticated, technical, hands-on training solutions to meet the mission and time-critical needs of our customers.The Technical Writer position requires fully a cleared individual with an extensive range of experience that includes the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including system operations, user documentation, testing, software and systems engineering, and all manner of training-related deliverables. The Technical Writer drafts and edits technical documentation for internal (project team) and external (customer) stakeholders.The Technical Writer works with a multidisciplinary team to rapidly and effectively write technical content for deliverables and solutions to meet the mission and time-critical needs of our customers.Technical Writer candidates have knowledge of and experience actively participating in thorough data gathering and development of clear and technically accurate documentation.Technical Writers work closely with content developer Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Instructional Systems Designers (ISD) to clarify complex concepts, ensure accuracy of content, and support the development of technically accurate and instructionally sound training solutions that best meet the learning needs of the target audience. Technical Writers are responsible for producing and editing deliverables that include, but are not limited to: technical input for training deliverables; instructor guides and students guides; reports; outlines; storyboards; video scripts; style guides; resources; job aids; implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities; code documentation for software; data definition and data flow documentation; pamphlets; technical drawings; contract resumes; Contract Data Requirement List (CDRL) deliverables; and other contract deliverables. A qualified candidate must possess excellent speaking and writing skills. A qualified candidate must be able to effectively collaborate with other members of the team and prioritize tasks under strict deadlines. Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:The Technical Writer Candidate must be able to successfully demonstrate the following capabilities: Understands and applies basic concepts and writes and edits technical copy for various types of documents and deliverables Uses various methods to conduct data gathering and research Assists in preparing and maintaining various types of documentation, guides, manuals, and technical publications Gathers technical information and prepares written text Maintains a current internal documentation library Uses multiple word processing and presentation tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Confluence, etc. Prepares reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences Works with the multidisciplinary team to produce quality documentation and training materials Works on all phases of documentation (original drafts, work in progress, draft, final draft, publishing, etc.) Applies concepts of technical writing based on drawings, technical information from documentation, consultations with SMEs, and other available sources Produces defense acquisition documentation, user manuals, training materials, and other documentation utilized by the end-user community of DoD electronic equipment and systems Examines engineering and maintenance drawings and operational procedures in order to interpret large quantities of technical information and draft into clear and comprehensible written materials Researches highly technical subject matter, organizes information from multiple sources, and expresses technical information in written form that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers Produces technical documentation for Cryptologic programs and/or projects developing analytic tradecraft methodologies Provides support for contract resume preparation and editing as well as support for other contract-related deliverables Applies technical manual standard(s) applicable to the work products Works closely with technical SMEs and ISDs to draft technical content for training-related deliverables Tests and provides Quality Assurance methodologies for learning objects and other deliverables Demonstrates ownership of assigned tasking including managing time and workflows, communicating status early and often, and identifying and communicating risks and mitigation strategies Develops realistic time estimates and schedules for drafting and editing documentation and deliverables Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skillsQualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. An additional four (4) years of technical writing experience may be substituted for the Degree requirement, resulting in a requirement of ten (10) years relevant experience in technical writing. Relevant Work Experience: Minimum six (6) years of experience as a Technical Writer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Domain Area(s) and Specialized Requirements: Two (2) years of experience writing and/or editing documentations and deliverables for training development/delivery projects.Desired Requirements: Military experience is desired (though not required).#cjcyberJacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
