RNs on this unit will utilize their skills in advanced heart monitors, ventilators for breathing assistance, feeding tubes, and catheters. This unit requires a nurse who can perform in a fast pace setting and quickly learn task prioritization and time management with the support of leadership SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* Demonstrates clinical competence to practice within the Critical Care Unit s Scope of Care. Manages expenses to stay within budgetary guidelines. Communicates effectively with staff, peers, Physicians, Director and external and internal customers. Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve Unit/Departmental process. Pursues own professional growth and development. Maintains unit readiness for regulatory surveys. Assumes accountability for decisions and actions. Provides opportunities for employee development. Initiates and documents patient teaching including family and/or significant others. Uses appropriate Patient Education documentation modality. EXPERIENCE Required - One year experience as RN with demonstrated proficiency leadership and management skills. Preferred - Two years experience as a RN in a charge nurse role. EDUCATION Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current license as a RN in the State of Virginia or compact license. Preferred - Educational programs in nursing management.
