Accounting Manager

We are in search of an Accounting Manager who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day transactions of the accounting functions. This includes the month-end financial closing process to ensure the general ledger (GL) and resulting information is accurate and that appropriate schedules have been completed and reconciled. Supervise and maintain appropriate internal controls and audits. Supervise, instruct, and train personnel with AP policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise Staff Accountant and AP Clerk, and review account reconciliations.

• Establish policies & procedures and trains new managers in AP approval processes / systems.

• Plan & manage the budget process; train / assist managers in budget development & monitoring against actual expenses.

• Develop the Personnel, Finance Dept. & Facility budgets.

• Manage monthly close to ensure timely closing and financial report preparation; prepare financial statements & budget vs actual reports.

• Monitor DC Public Charter School Board compliance requirements: prepare & submit timely all required financial & budget reports.

• Supervise & coordinate the preparation of grant financial & budget reports; review & submit federal reimbursement requests

• Ensure compliance with 1099 requirements.

• Develop capital expenditure budget.

• Perform all other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.

• Minimum of four years of experience working in an accounting related role, preferably in an education setting or non-profit.

• Skilled understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.

• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Knowledge of computerized accounting, auditing procedures and reconciling accounts.

• Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses and utilizing results to inform decision-making.

• Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills. • Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities.

• Must be able to provide proof of completed Covid-19 vaccination
