We have a great opportunity as a Journeyman Systems Engineer at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, criteria, and procedures to improve planned and existing AF and joint service weapon system programs throughout the full lifecycle.

  • Apply knowledge of Engineering Management and IEEE Distributed Interactive Simulation and High-Level Architecture standards to assist in solving complex technical issues and support day-to-day operations.
  • Support the acquisition, development, and sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment throughout the lifecycle process while assessing effectiveness, costs, risks, and scheduling trade-off studies.
  • Perform Failure Analysis and provide economical solutions to improve System Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability.
  • Develop and review the overall system design baseline (architecture and interoperability requirements), including the translation of user requirements into system requirements
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate change proposals, including regulatory and other policy driver changes or proposed modifications for design feasibility and system compatibility.
  • Evaluate systems, test plans, and provide recommendations; and participate in the conduct of system, subsystem, and component testing.
  • Support program management and the engineering team with briefings and documentation such as System Requirements Documents, Systems Engineering Plans; Programmatic Environmental Safety and Health Evaluation; etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 3+ years of experience or a minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it.
