We are seeking a talented Senior Accountant to ensure all business transactions are properly, accurately and completed accounted for and reflected in accounting systems. The position partners closely with the Vice President of Finance. This role continuously improves financial processes, identifies financial and operational trends/deficiencies and identifies opportunities/problems and suggests steps towards resolution. This role assists the Vice President of Finance in implementing financial controls necessary for the business. Base Work Location - Position is based at the Hunt Valley, MD location; 'Hybrid' work environment is a consideration available. Note: Due to pandemic and based on business direction, positions are remote work full time until otherwise notified. Responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:Identifies daily activity in bank accounts. Reconciles several different bank accounts for several different corporate entities. Posts journal entries in the company general ledger accounting software package. Maintains and reconciles balance sheet and general ledger accounts.Assists with year-end audits, with the preparation of month-end financial statements, cash flow statements, budgets and with quarterly and annual tax filings as needed. Investigates and resolves audit findings, account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance.Provides day-to-day bookkeeping processes of recording all business transactions in terms of purchases and sales, cash receipts and disbursements, payroll and other accounting entries.Keeps accounts receivable aging up to date for invoices and payments.Prepares and controls the monthly Accounting closing schedule.Reviews the purchases and sales journal and the cash receipts and disbursements journal as needed. Tracks and maintains fixed asset ledger by coordinating with Accounts Payable.Prepares schedules for reporting of fixed assets.Calculates and records depreciation, amortization and depletion. Completes account analyses, reconciliations and bank reconciliations. Prepares information required for internal management reports and outside reporting. Compiles information and preparation of schedules required by internal and independent auditors. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business AdministrationMinimum three (3) years of experience as Accountant/Senior AccountantDemonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)Familiar with general accounting, payroll, bookkeeping and basic computer skills.Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP - Great Plains and Microsoft Dynamics 365Proficient in PC skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, One Drive, Google Docs) including formulas, formatting, and reporting functionsDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skillsProficient verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organization and time management skills and must be extremely detail-orientedAbility to maintain confidential information and knowledge of confidential matters.Ability to work on a team and as an individual contributor.Experience managing multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.Strong analytical skills and experience in working with current best practices and industry trendsSelf-starter, self-motivator, detail-oriented and highlyIndividual must be open to learn about and understand 'niche' industry.Preferred Experience and/or Education: Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification; MS Dynamics experience; Wagering and gaming industry experience; Knowledgeable in technology, horse racing, pari-mutuel wagering, gaming, sports wagering and/or experience in a start-up environment OTHER INFORMATION:Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive base salary, bonus opportunity and benefits.This position does not have supervisory/managerial responsibilities.This position is empowered to take initiative with applicable duties/projects.We are 1/ST Technology - A fully integrated racing and gaming technology company providing solutions that drive pari-mutuel and fixed-odds wagering world-wide.
