Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) Under minimaldirection, the Energetics and Propellant Development Engineer performs assignments requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories and concepts in the propulsion field with a working knowledge of other related disciplines, such as thermal, structural, and ballistics analysis. 30% - Evaluate and implement tractable solutions to technical problems involving the utilization of chemistry and chemical analysis techniques. 30% - Responsible for specifying chemical testing and evaluating data, providing chemical guidance and planning (technical), organizing (cost and schedule), and conducting technical projects covering a broad range of technical topics under the guidance of a Technical Project Lead (Technical Fellow or equivalent). 25% - Develop, plan, and promote projects independently for the implementation of novel technical approaches and cutting edge technologies. 15% - Consolidate results, prepare findings for reports, and present results. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's or PhD preferred)in Chemistry, Material Science or related scienceand at least forteen (14) years of related technical experience in the chemistry environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Knowledge of chemical principles, thermodynamics, polymer chemistry, structure/property relationships, kinetics, and data analysis is essential. Experience with energetic materials, statistical analysis, programming, and experimental set-up and data acquisition is a plus. May be required to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires US Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
