The Herndon, Virginia office is currently seeking a Mid-Level Architect to join our team of interdisciplinary designers for water/wastewater projects within the Washington DC Metro area and the Mid-Atlantic region. As a Mid-Level Architect, in partnership with the Architectural Discipline Lead, Project Manager, and Design Manager, you are accountable for project design quality performance and team communication. Responsible for the development, issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of documents and coordination of disciplines including consultants and for the supervision of all staff producing documents on your projects. Ability to work from home or in a work/office hybrid environment is an available feature for this position. When you join us, youll be responsible for ensuring the overall design intent of the project established by the Architectural Discipline Lead is incorporated into the detailed documentation as well as monitoring the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design is properly conveyed and executed. Utilizing your previous experience in developing specifications, youll collaborate with the project specification writer and coordinate drawings while ensuring accuracy on completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations. Well look to you to assist the overall discipline strategy for producing the documents and identifying the sheets planned for each stage of the work. This includes defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM). Youll work with the BIM Manager to define and set up project team software parameters and work with the team to facilitate project standards. Your technical abilities will shine through preparation of technical drawings and details while also ensuring that construction detail documentation conforms to Quality Assurance, Quality Control and best practice standards important to Jacobs policies and procedures. You will have the opportunity to perform as the architectural discipline lead on certain projects, mentor the work of less experience staff and participate in professional development reviews and Lessons Learned sessions. Youll utilize your business development expertise by creating and maintaining internal and external client relationships leveraging them to secure invitations to future project opportunities. Heres What Youll Need: Bachelors degree in Architecture from an accredited Architectural program (or Foreign equivalent). Licensed Architect or on track for attaining a license within the United States. Self-motivated personality with the ability to work collaboratively and independently as appropriate in a hybrid work environment, as well as adaptability to meet changing deadlines Ability to lead & collaborate with design teams consisting of local and remote team members across a variety of disciplines. Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness. Ability to develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity. Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and green building/green infrastructure certifications. Thorough knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and familiarity with project delivery methodologies including but not limited to; design-bid-build and design build. Proficiency with building codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, OSHA), technical report writing, and specifications. Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to travel to local project sites, some regional site locations Ideally, Youll Also Have: Proficiency in Enscape, Photoshop, other graphics and rendering software preferred Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu Familiarity with sustainable design software analysis tools Familiarity with current and next-generation software and programming: Dynamo, Hypar, Sustainable Design Analysis tools, data analytics tools Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
