Edgewater Federal Solutions is currently seeking a Junior Security Analyst to provide support to Edgewater Federal government contracts. Responsibilities: About this opportunity: The Program:The mission of the National Institute of Health's (NIH) Information Security program is to make information security cultural and programmatic to enable all the 27 research institutes and centers that make up the NIH to succeed in their research missions. The Team:The Junior Security Analyst (Task 4) will be providing critical support for the NIH Information Security's vulnerability management program (NIH VM) as part of the Office of the CIO. The NIH VM team's portfolio of activities includes providing vulnerability detection and remediation oversight, vulnerability research, secure baseline compliance, web application security, host-based security, network security, and acting as security subject matter experts for all of NIH. What you will do:You will help support the activities that are focused on providing clear guidance to other NIH Security staff, that the security tools our team owns are working as intended and provide vulnerability guidance to all NIH security staff and personnel. Specifically, the duties will support engineers who are strengthening and enhancing Agency-wide Vulnerability Analysis & Reporting. The Junior Security Analyst will:Support the creation of new dashboards, collecting metrics, define new and/or refined reporting on vulnerability findings and remediation compliance. Assist in facilitation and coordination of meetings ensuring read-ahead materials are relevant, quality checked, and sent out for timely review, and meeting minutes are submitted on time.Facilitate communications as needed between the NIH Information Security Program, client Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), and system owners to address security issues and resolve vulnerabilities in a timely manner Qualifications: The successful candidate will have:Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.Experience maintaining appropriate documentations ideally defining the Threat and Vulnerability Management policy and procedures.Understanding of Cyber SecurityPassion for learning about current and emerging information security threats, vulnerabilities, and PoCs.Soft skills:Ability to work collaboratively with others Strong customer service focus to meet the needs of internal and external customers.Professional, pleasant, and polished demeanor.Ability to remain flexibility and maintain quality results in a demanding environmentSound problem-solving capabilities and the ability to effectively communicate solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Technical skills:Three (3) or more years of professional work experience with at least1 year specialized in cyber securityBA or BS degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or Information Systems (additional years of experience in cyber security and/or military experience may reduce this educational requirement)Sound cyber security knowledge foundation, to include understanding of:Computer and network technology fundamentalsNetwork security tools (proxies, IPS/IDS, firewall, and packet analyzers)Security tools and technologiesUnderstanding of IT environments, information security, and privacyProficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Desired experience and knowledge:Prior NIH ExperienceExpertise with Unix/Linux, macOS, IOS, Android, and Windows operating systems.Experience with government contracting firms supporting the Federal government.Skill in using network analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities.
