Together, we will support critical missions, develop solutions and shape products of the future.Job Description:We are currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with a passion for hands on work to join the Janus in-plant Engineering team in Springfield, VA.The engineering team designs and integrates optical sensors into unique automated systems to perform research and development for our customer in fielded environments. The Principal Systems Engineer will execute all aspects of the systems engineering discipline, to include system design, build, integration and test, training, deployment and sustainment activities for systems developed under the Janus program. Additionally, the Senior Systems Engineer will perform engineering activities such as: developing system test requirements; planning, execution, and analysis in support of system integration and verification; hardware-in-the-loop testing; technical support for deployed sensor systems.The Principle Systems Engineer will perform a variety of hands-on technically challenging assignments which will directly contribute to protecting our nation. CONUS/OCONUS travel to support demonstrations and customer tests may be requiredRequired Skills:8+ years of relevant engineering experience with demonstrated knowledge in systems design, build, integration, and testConducting system performance analysis and developing technical performance risk mitigation strategiesAbility to analyze issues and define solutionsAbility to perform trade studies to optimize system performanceDetailed electrical design of cross-platform systems, subsystems and components with multiple communications protocols in a networked environmentCapable of generating detailed systems design and configuration management documentationExhibit agility in addressing impromptu customer requirement changes, or resolving urgent issuesU.S. citizenship is required as this role requires an active and in-scope DoD Secret US security clearance as of Day 1 of employmentDesired Skills:Experience working in cross discipline teamsExperience with low-level programing in both Windows and Linux environments for embedded systemsNetworking system design in classified environments and cybersecurity systems accreditationExperience with python or other scripting languagesExperience with networking concepts such as OSI model and networking protocolsAbility to assemble, troubleshoot, and repair electronic systems, utilizing electronic test and measurement equipmentRequired Education:8 + years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline; or 6 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a STEM related disciplineDesired Education:Master's degree in Engineering, or related STEM disciplineEngineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulationsEngineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and aminimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.Relocation Eligible: Relocation assistance available provided final candidate meets eligibility requirements.Employee Referral Award Eligibility: Only employees currently within RMD and RI have the potential to receive a Referral Award for submitting a referral to RMD and RI roles.
