The PLM Director of Platforms role is part of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) organization. The PLM organization is responsible for defining new product features and enhancements, and for directing activities to ensure the timely development and delivery of reliable and efficient solutions to business requirements. The PLM Director of Platforms is one third of a team (with the Director of Product Ownership and Director of Products) responsible for defining portfolio roadmaps, new product feature enhancements, planning and directing activities to ensure the timely development and delivery of reliable and efficient solutions to business requirements. This position is primarily focused on the market, sales, customer, feature definition and forecasting side of the product management organization. They define the product to fit to the market need, forecast anticipated revenue, develop business cases, act as the customer's proxy, and work with the various product managers and engineering leadership to develop each platform's detailed roadmap and timely execution. Responsibilities: Includes and is not limited to the following:Manage the full product lifecycle from product / feature conceptualization through development, go-to-market, launch, delivery and end of life.Assess market requirements and develop proposals for technical product direction, evaluating and prioritizing features and enhancements based on business, customer, and strategic valueCollaborate with Marketing, Sales and Customer Support organizations to ensure new product roadmap and development are consistence with the company strategy and commitmentsWork closely with Engineering, Project Management, Product Owners, and Product Management peers to drive development of products and featuresRegularly communicate and report product/project status to internal stakeholders and customersAct as the Subject Matter Expert for the portfolio, supporting the Sales team, providing direction to engineering, and supporting RFP/RFQ activitiesParticipate in worldwide events to exhibit existing and upcoming productsDevelop product collateral in collaboration with MarketingDescribe and demonstrate key product and solution benefits to customers and sales team members through product presentations, webinars, and other avenuesServe as customer proxy with internal stakeholders (eg Product Owners, Engineering, Sales), balancing needs of customer with STE iDirect business requirementsManagement of process for evaluating all new product/feature/solutions requestsGather and analyze data required to develop business requirements required for business case creation in support of requestDevelop and deliver comprehensive business cases (market need, feature analysis, customer identification and financial forecasting)Running business case through comprehensive Decision Tree processDevelop subject matter expertise related to products and technical best practices Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related majors required, MBA preferred Experience:15+ years progressive experience as Product Manager in a STEM related field; satellite, networking, IT, or telecommunications.Experience managing portfolios consisting of hardware, software, and cloud solutions including product conceptualization, business case creation, requirements development, and lifecycle management.Knowledge of multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Customer Support, Finance or MarketingAbility to effectively manage time and deliverables while working with global development, product management, and sales organizationDemonstrated ability to effectively represent the company to external audiencesBusiness acumen; ability to conduct financial and data analysis, construct and communicate recommendations in a business contextTechnical acumen; ability to understand key technical aspects of the productPrior collaboration with Product Managers and Product Owners to translate market and customer needs into consumable Epics and Stories with acceptance criteria for engineering organizationAbility to lead teams and drive projects to successful outcomesExperience managing the entire lifecycle of hardware solutionsExceptional written and oral communication skillsAgile experience is a plusPrior management experience Travel Requirements: 50% or lessLocation: Herndon, VA #LI-PS1
