Job Summary: We are seeking a Staff Research Accountant (Clinical Trials Billing Specialist) to provide support to the Mid Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI), which is part of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG), for the maintenance and reporting of the General Accounting Sub ledger specific to MAPRI activities only. Will support the Research Accounting Team with ongoing clinical research trials. Responsible for the accounts receivable process, the monthly close process with MAPRI and MAPMG, account reconciliations, grant research accounting, reporting and analysis as needed, preparing monthly reports, and supporting the operational needs of MAPRI. Responsibilities: Run queries, verify expenses and prepare manual invoices Create new invoice templates based on sponsor requirements, per contractual agreement Enter invoices in OneLink (a Peoplesoft product) Prepare deposits, record and apply payments in OneLink Communicate with sponsors to collect payment for aged invoices Tracking and management of all billing and invoices as it relates to ongoing clinical research trials Collaborate with the Research Accounting Team and all Clinical Research Teams to ensure all invoices and billing activities are appropriately assigned per specific contract agreements Utilize Excel and CTMS to track all financial records, obligations, and study budgets Perform basic and complex billing and budget analysis in accordance with regulations for all clinical trials performed at MAPMG Participate in the month-end close process with MAPMG Finance (as needed) calculate and record entries in the general ledger; review and validate source data for all journal entries Prepare sub ledger reporting upon request by management and assist in the interpretation of numbers, trends, etc Prepare account reconciliations to ensure general ledger and research sub ledger accounts reconcile and any reconciling items are resolved Prepare schedules and supporting documents and analysis to support external audits Assist in maintaining and updating desktop procedures, as needed Maintain understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls and applicable OMB Super Circular and FAR Clauses applicable to research Uphold the standards for excellence in the organization by providing an exemplary work ethic and quality standard in all communications and work products Promote organizational values by leading by example and building/growing relationships Consistently support Compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting or Business Administration Minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of substantial directly related accounting experience Experience with Clinical Research and Financial/Accounting responsibilities Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (special emphasis on formula expertise, to include: Vlookup and Pivot tables) Strong interpersonal, written communication, problem solving, and analytical skills Organized, accurate and detail oriented Able to establish professional relationships built on trust and integrity Ability to manage highly delicate information while maintaining confidentiality Demonstrate ability for inter-departmental and inter-regional collaboration Competitive Benefits: Competitive compensation package Comprehensive benefits including 100% employer-funded medical and dental insurance premiums for employees and families Great work/life balance Generous paid time off Maternity and parental leave Pension plan and 401(k) retirement plan Life insurance, and short-term disability and long-term disability coverage Education reimbursement Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity: MAPMG continuously works to identify and mitigate healthcare inequities, and that starts with providing an inclusive, supportive environment for our physicians.
