DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To oversee the station ensuring that standards are maintained at all times. 2. To be responsible for completing the daily check list regarding the mis-en-place food storage and daily fridge check. 3. To organize the section ensuring its smooth running whilst maintaining Hotel standards. 4. To be responsible for the mis-en-place, its production and its service. 5. To work to the specifications regarding portion size, quantity and quality. 6. To be up to date with all function requirements. 7. Responsible for daily soup preparation as directed 8. Prepares all food items in accordance with established recipe and quality standards in a timely manner 9. Maintains the cleanliness of all kitchen work stations, tools, equipment and supplies and ensures the proper food handling techniques are being followed 10. Assists in the opening and closing duties of the kitchen which may include turning equipment on/off, locking/unlocking of secured areas, set up/store prep items, etc 11. Ensures that all stores and fridges including fresh produce, meat and dry goods are stored in the respective storage areas in an organized way 12. Conforms to the Fire, Health, Hotel regulations and laws governing food and beverage operations. 13. Performs other duties as required What we need from you QUALIFICATIONS Essential: Two (2) years relevant experience in a hotel style environment Sound knowledge of all aspects of a classical kitchen Grade twelve (12) education or equivalent Desirable: Post secondary education in a Culinary program or related field Ability to communicate in a second language preferably French and/or Spanish First Aid/CPR certified SKILLS Essential: Knowledge of safe and sanitary holding temperatures and procedures Ability to use safe storage techniques following storage and rotation policies and procedures Ability to follow recipes and cooking guidelines Ability to work in a clean, organized manner with attention to detail Ability to communicate in English with management, co-workers and guests to their understanding Ability to provide legible written communication Ability to think clearly, analyze and problem solve Ability to remain calm and courteous in demanding/difficult situations Ability to lift and carry 35lbs on a regular and continuous basis Ability to stand for five (5) hours continuously What we offer Well reward all your hard work with a great salary and benefits including a uniform, great room discount and superb training.
