Westat has an immediate opening for a Senior Epidemiologist/Study Director to join our team of leading researcher in clinical health studies conducting research, surveys and evaluation studies on infectious diseases including COVID-19, influenza, and other respiratory diseases and/or HIV. As a Senior Epidemiologist, you will lead and support large and small epidemiology studies on infectious diseases. You will collaborate and consult with networks of external investigators and internal project team members on your work designing and implementing multi-site network studies and surveys including COVID-19, influenza, other respiratory diseases, HIV, and other infectious diseases. You will provide epidemiology and data management support including developing protocols, overseeing, and conducting data management and analysis for Westat projects to support and contribute to scientific peer reviewed publications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all stages of research and surveillance projects from protocol development through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Support study design to include refining protocols, data dictionaries and data collection plans.
• Manage project budgets, developing technical, staffing, and cost proposals.
• Conduct data cleaning and analysis on large, multi-site datasets.
• Keep the project on schedule and within budget.
• Leadership role in business development and writing proposals.
• Supervising staff and interacting with clients.
• Contribute to report results for publication in peer-reviewed and technical journals.
Basic Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health or equivalent and 8 years of experience or a PhD with 3 years of experience.
• Experience managing project budgets, developing technical, staffing and cost proposals.
• Experience with SAS required.
• Experience drafting statistical analysis plans and overseeing analysis.
• Experience collecting and analyzing data from administrative (e.g., Electronic Medical Records) and primary sources (agencies, individuals)
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with R
• Experience disseminating research findings to a variety of audiences.
• Experience working in a contracting environment
You will have excellent communication skills. You will also be a collaborator, with the Westat team and our clients.
The pay range for this role is 90-125k.
