The Role

The Business Cards & Payments Brand Marketing team is a passionate and entrepreneurial team of brand marketing strategists focused on cultivating the Capital One Business brand in the hearts and minds of business owners, who are both our prospective and existing customers.

We are looking for a marketing strategist to join our Brand Strategy team and help us execute the agendas for our strategic alliances and sponsorships. They will work closely with our media partners to devise, test and execute comprehensive content strategies and event plans aligned to our brand marketing roadmap and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build the presence and visibility of Capital One Business through existing and disruptive partnerships which serve as a vehicle for customer connection and consideration.
  • Co-produce bespoke programs, events, and sponsorships with our partners that serve as extensions of our brand, allowing Capital One Business to show up authentically.
  • Partner closely with the appropriate teams to ensure the overall Business Cards & Payments mission is reflected in our strategic partnerships.
  • Ideate on how to amplify the presence of Capital One Business in innovative and unexpected ways, getting creative when it comes to how we can expand respective program investments and outcomes to serve our agenda.
  • Keep a constant pulse on business owners needs and sentiment by consistently evaluating the performance of our partnerships, based on real-time metrics and other leading key performance indicators; recommending refinements to communications strategies, messaging and new feedback mechanisms, as needed, based on ongoing assessments.
  • Proactively build and manage relationships with key stakeholders across a range of levels and business functions, serving as a representative of the Business Brand Marketing team.

  • Ability to self-direct and task switch between strategic and tactical initiatives regularly
  • Succinct, focused written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Preference to be a member of a lean, nimble team where fast failure, change and evolution is expected and encouraged
  • Preference to work on highly ambiguous projects - where you are expected to test hypotheses and stand up best practices that don't exist today
  • Diligent listening skills and the ability to adapt approach among diverse audiences to tease out insights and pain points
  • High degree of comfort bringing ideas to the table that might at first seem absurd - then quickly build a case for testing and ultimately a recommendation for pursuit, scaling or abandoning
  • Confidence to ask hard questions and push into uncharted territories - and not defaulting to the status quo before exploring new paths and quantifying risk / reward

  • Fearless Leadership - highly-disciplined self-starter with a strong POV who can positively, effectively lead themselves and others, often in ambiguous and/or new territory
  • Collaboration & Influence - ability to productively partner with a wide variety of teams across the organization to advance our Business Cards & Payments goals and connect marketing activities to the underlying business strategy

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in an agency or client-side brand strategy role

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Content strategy and event programming experience
  • Experience managing creative processes and partnering with creative teams

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City

- $96,254 and $113,558 for Sr. Associate, Marketing

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
