Principal Associate, Cafe Brand Marketing Strategist

Capital One's Retail Marketing team is looking for a talented, strategic, proactive and results-focused Cafe Brand Marketing Strategist to join our team. The Retail Marketing team is a collection of collaborative and forward-thinking strategists with a passion for developing, testing, and executing best-in-class marketing. Our retail network, consisting of Capital One Cafes and branches, is the physical manifestation of our brand. The retail marketing team is responsible for broadening awareness of the Café by reaching more people, inspiring conversation about our brand and retail spaces, and driving traffic to our retail locations.

Your Role:

We are looking for a passionate marketer with a track record of delivering breakthrough results via multi-channel reach and awareness campaigns. If you're a highly collaborative contributor who is adept at bringing ideas to life in creative ways, you may be the perfect match for our Principal Associate, Cafe Brand Marketing Strategist position.

This role will develop marketing strategies for reach and awareness campaigns across storytelling channels such as: regional mass media advertising, social media, video and influencers. The ideal candidate will be able to think about not just the planning of a campaign, but the measurement and optimization of it, balancing the analysis of individual channels and building the internal narrative about campaign performance. Additionally, this role requires collaboration with other marketing strategists within our Bank and Retail marketing teams, and partnership with multiple other stakeholder groups such as Enterprise Social, Corporate Communications/Public Relations, Research/Insights and Marketing Analytics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the ideation of disruptive marketing strategies that reinforce the unique value proposition of our retail network and deliver integrated, multi-channel, marketing campaigns that drive key brand equities and brand affinity
  • Synthesize research insights, marketing trends, competitive landscape, and macro external factors to identify new strategic recommendations to improve marketing and business results and Brand impact
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including brand, digital marketing, business, creative, legal, operations, and corporate communication to launch compelling messaging strategies and channel plans
  • Author sound campaign and creative briefs, test plans and strategies to guide breakthrough work rooted in consumer insights and drive continued performance and optimization against KPIs across channels
  • Translate and communicate business intent in a directive manner that partner teams can act on
  • Champion and adhere to risk management processes and policies


A great candidate is:
  • Experienced in brand strategy, multi-channel integrated marketing campaign strategy and content development.
  • Experienced in marketing throughout the full funnel, with expertise in the brand awareness and consideration space (mid to upper funnel).
  • Someone who knows how to navigate white space and build strategies from the ground up, leading with consumer insights and leveraging sound judgment/past experience
  • Experienced in working effectively with many stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Confident presenting formal recommendations to senior decision makers
  • Excited by the challenge of influencing and collaborating with various partners of all levels to deliver results
  • Someone who thrives when navigating ambiguity and working autonomously
  • Comfortable thinking outside the box and trying new things, without fear of failure
  • A strong team player, focused on achieving results together


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of multi-channel marketing experience on client or agency side
  • At least 5 years of experience creating and delivering integrated marketing campaigns across social and digital channels


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience with influencers or brand partnerships
  • 1+ years of experience working in a heavily regulated industry that requires adherence to and understanding of risk management processes
  • 1+ years of experience working in Agile or knowledge of Agile practices

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City

- $114,766 and $135,398 for Principal Associate, Marketing

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
