Senior Manager, CLO/Commercial Lender Finance - FIG Investment Research

Summary

The mission of the FIG Investment Research Group (FIG IRG) is to provide a robust research function that drives sector and deal selection, marketing, and brand awareness to mitigate risk and boost incremental cross-functional sales volume. The FIG IRG is part of the Financial Institution Group's Commercial Underwriting and Portfolio Management function, with the primary function of assisting in the evaluation of new lending opportunities through active assessment of market and portfolio risks and opportunities within FIG sectors. FIG IRG also works closely with Relationship Managers and Capital Markets to help provide research on various capital markets activities to inform FIG internal stakeholders, issuers and investors on market trends and financing options.

Primary responsibilities may include:
  • Provide senior analyst coverage for three to five different sub-sectors with a focus on commercial sectors (e.g., CLO/Leveraged Credit, Secured Business Credit, Fund Finance).
  • Contribute across idea generation efforts, including industry analyses, discussion of strategic opportunities within sectors and identification of potential targets
  • Monitor and develop a forward-looking view on industry dynamics, secular changes and regulatory trends to identify emerging opportunities and threats
  • Develop and maintain industry driver and risk identification tools for various subsectors
  • Support deal screening, due diligence, and internal credit approval processes, including development of investment theses and underwriting assumptions
  • Support IRG efforts in other forums, including, but not limited to quarterly portfolio reviews, segment authorizations and pipeline discussions


Desired Background:

Experience with financial institution clients in commercial or investment banking, equity/fixed income research and/or structured finance at a rating agency.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in credit underwriting or at least 5 years of experience in investment research or at least 5 years of experience in structured finance at a rating agency or bank.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant fields
  • 7+ years of experience in credit underwriting, investment research or structured finance.
  • Previous leadership (informal or formal) experience with deal teams or analyst
