Duties

  • Process Tribal applications. Maintain Indian Gaming related application files ensuring that the administrative record and final documents are complete.
  • Manage and oversee the processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for the Office of Indian Gaming.
  • Responsible for office administrative duties such as preparing budget estimates, property procurement and management, creates and edits correspondence and reports, track and compile data and maintain office files.
  • Provides recommendations for organizational changes and initiates corrective action for program deficiencies.
  • Prepare and review documents required to initiate personnel actions, such as the recruitment of new hires, and giving assistance to Office of Indian Gaming personnel regarding personnel issues.

Qualifications

GS-05 :
To qualify at the GS-05 grade level you must meet ONE of the following criteria:

A. Specialized Experience - To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, you must have one year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level performing clerical or administrative support functions for a business or an organization that may include such tasks as greeting visitors and responding to inquiries via phone, mail, email or in person; preparing correspondence and reports utilizing a variety of computer software systems; maintaining, filing, and distributing records and files; and communicating effectively both orally and in writing regarding administrative tasks.

OR
B. Education - Four full academic years (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) beyond high school at an accredited institution.
OR
C. A combination of education and specialized experience that totals 100% of the requirement.

GS-06 :
In addition to experience at the lower grade level, to qualify at the GS-06 grade level, you must have one year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level that may include such tasks as processing and preparing documents and forms utilizing word processing software to produce and edit a variety of standardized documents such as letters and reports; procuring office supplies and equipment; utilizing computers and software programs to enter, maintain, track and verify data; and processing Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests.

GS-07 :
In addition to experience at the lower grade levels, to qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have one year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level independently managing administrative functions for an office that may include such tasks as developing and preparing budget estimates and monitoring funding allocations; creating recommendations to improve or develop administrative policies and procedures for an office; and giving assistance to office personnel regarding personnel issues.

Suitability, Clearance & Requirements: A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Education

If you are qualifying based on your education, you MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
