Duties

Supervises waitresses, waiters and bus persons in their duties of providing maximum customer service; ensuring that it is rendered in a courteous manner using proper etiquette. Briefs service personnel on menu items and assigns their workstations and waits tables. Ensures that personnel are properly attired in accordance with established standards.

Trains new service employees in correct service, customer contact techniques, setting a Mess Night and Dinning Inn and provides continued on the job training. Enforces operating rules and safety requirements.

Orchestrates service employees in a cost effective manner for regular operations and private banquet functions.

Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of banquet functions. Directs the placement of table settings for private banquet functions. Organizes workstations with all necessary items for expedient service flow and table resetting.

Greets customers entering banquet rooms and directs them to the appropriate area to maximize service and facilities customer location preference. Receives and answers customer complaints concerning food or service. Informs management of all problems.

Ensures private party function areas are clean and that the room is set up appropriately. Ensures wait staff know and use proper custom and etiquette procedures and ensure proper techniques for serving and clearing food, desserts, drinks and pouring wine.

Coordinates with custodian personnel in cleaning and setting up for private parties. Keeps a monthly inventory of all china and banquet equipment, working close with Banquet Manager on ordering supplies for catering functions.

Overseas the operation of a private banquet function when required. Attends catering meetings and updates appropriate copies of private banquet contracts outlining any required changes. Requisitions for linen requirements for dining room and private functions.

Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with "Return To Work" program initiatives, and following up on employee well being.

Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

SKILL & KNOWLEDGE:

Works under direction of supervisor who establishes daily work assignments and who provides general instructions either orally or in writing. High School graduate, two years experience in similar assignment, one year as lead. Ability to read, write and count. Must be able to wait tables and exercise courtesy in dealing with customers and subordinates. Ability to ring out cash register for cash or open bars. Must have working knowledge of catering and computer experience. Must be able to obtain a health card.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the qualifications above.

PHYSICAL EFFORT : Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

WORKIN CONDITIONS:

Work is normally performed inside with adequate light, heat and fresh air. Incumbents are exposed to the possibility of chapped hands, bruises, and cuts.
