Position Overview The teller receives and pays out money, as well as accurately keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in a financial institution's various transactions. The teller meets the needs of customers by providing quality service. Essential Job FunctionsReceive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of depositExamine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete hold noticesProcess savings withdrawals. Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and ensure validityIdentify counterfeit currencyAnswer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies. Cross-sell bank products and servicesRefer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller lineIssue personal money orders and cashier's checksAccept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receiptsBuy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceededEnsure teller station is clean, organized and properly suppliedFollow proper dormant account proceduresBalance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checksProcess cash advances, redeem US Savings BondsFollow all bank policies and proceduresClose personal accounts, business accounts, and debit cardsComplete debit card maintenance forms and address change formsAccept utility bills and print daily transaction reportsBalance and process all applicable reports related to the cash vault, TCD, ATM and coin machineComplete wire forms following proper proceduresOpen personal accounts and business accountsFollow proper new account proceduresCreate new debit cards following proper proceduresCompetenciesExcellent customer service skillsVerbal and written communication proficiencyAbility to exercise discretion and use sound judgementStress management/composureThoroughness; attention to detailDependabilityAbility to prioritize tasks and multi-taskExcellent computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, word processing, spreadsheet, and Bank software.Required Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum 2 years teller experienceJob SpecificationsMust pass background check, credit check and drug screen
