Description Robert Half is helping an emerging Government Contractor/non-profit find an ambitious candidate to fill the role of an Accounting Manager. This is a very hands-on role and will be able to shape the future of the department. As the Accounting Manager, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Columbia, Maryland region.What you get to do every single day- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required- Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations- Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies- Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month- Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis Requirements - Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges- Government Contracting Experience- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred- Prior experience in the non-profit arena is highly preferredRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
