You will gain invaluable litigation experience as a case may go through all or some of the phases of the EDRM spectrum, from intake/acquisition of documents and data through trial support, cases and investigations. For this specific position, the Supervisory Paralegal will support various litigation matters within the Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, namely mandamus litigation, visa petition appeals, and complex class action litigation. Please apply if you are interested to hear more!More About the Role:The Supervisory Paralegal directs and supervises the work of paralegals and other support staff, particularly on major paralegal support efforts, such as large legal research projects or major in-courtroom support. In this role you will:Sharpen your analytical and problem-solving abilities by performing complex legal and factual research utilizing Relativity and other eDiscovery software. Receive significant task management and supervisory experience through the oversight of your team and in their delivery of quality work within strict deadlines in support of DOJ's mission. Enhance your management and communication skills by interacting with your staff and the DOJ case teams during the planning and execution of project requirements, schedules, and all litigation support activities.Monitor work and reports on progress. Ensure that paralegal and support staff work meet contract and attorney requirements and is delivered on time. Troubleshoot and performs quality control spot-checks. Formulate administrative and technical procedures for getting the work done. Report to Project Supervisor or Project Manager; may also have significant contact with COR, Government Case Manager, trial attorneys and staff, client agency staff, and opposing counsel. Perform complex legal and factual research. Design and develops systems and procedures for tracking, controlling, and managing case files, exhibits, and other case-specific materials. Assist trial staff in coordination with expert witnesses and litigation consult consultants. Arrange for access to appropriate DOJ libraries and other legal research facilities.Coordinate with other Contractor support components, including data processing support staff, in order to accomplish work.You'll Bring These Qualifications:Paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.At least three years of litigation paralegal experience, including trial experience. At least one year of experience in automated litigation support. Supervisory experience, including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys. Sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure, in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment.Customer-focused, congenial, professional, can do attitude for working with staff and government clients.These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:eDiscovery experience with Relativity and other eDiscovery tools used throughout the EDRM process and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, similar to the duties and responsibilities described above. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.Certifications and/or completed training courses in project management, eDiscovery, or other litigation support subject matter areas.Knowledge of immigration law.**Note: Flexible telework is allowed. After an initial "learning and training" period in-person every day for 1 to 3 months, in-person support is expected to be only 2 days over a 2-week/10 business days pay period (based upon assignment).
