Friends School is a Quaker, co-educational, college preparatory school, Pre-K through Grade 12, in Baltimore City, enrolling 802 students, 44% of whom identify as children of color. The Director will plan, lead, direct, develop and coordinate the policies and activities of the HR function, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the school's mission. Responsibilities:Maintain and maximize the functionality of the HR/payroll/time and attendance system (isolved). Work collaboratively with Human Resource Assistant/Payroll Coordinator regarding bi-weekly pay periods.Insure all pre-employment requirements are met (ie HB 486, background checks, and proof of health).Manage application repository platform. Manage onboarding process including visas. Assist employees with HR related matters. Assist managers with policies and employee relation matters including performance improvement plans. Maintain, modify and uphold policies in the Employee Handbook. Collaborate with managers to understand and assist with employment needs related to staffing, recruiting and retention.Oversee wellness program.Conduct new hire orientation sessions, annual open enrollment meetings and exit interviews.Prepare departmental budget information for various benefit premiums and reconcile monthly invoices. Administer benefit plans including enrollment, terminations, mid-year changes and annual open enrollment.Administer FMLA, disability, workers comp and other leave programs.Stay abreast of new HR/payroll policies, best practices, trends, and regulations. Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to understand and incorporate Quaker Principles and Quaker education into their work.
