Our business helps support their way of life and contributes to the survival of a culture that has thrived in a challenging environment.Job Summary:In this position, the Discovery Paralegal - Mid will provide professional, accurate, timely and reliable paralegal support reporting to the OGC-LITB and detailed to assist the litigating section. In particular, you will support the missions of the ELUs and CLUs. Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, you shall often develop these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines. The General Paralegal Task includes but is not limited to the following:Responsibilities:Shall have a sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.Using an eDiscovery review platform (eg, Clearwell, Relativity) to accurately identify and redact privileged information.Researching and drafting responses to interrogatories.Obtain documents for document collection and production.Analyze and interpret requests from customers.Research, locate, and gather material responsive to DMS requests including conducting outreach and informal interviews to respond to document requests and interrogatoriesAssist in preparation of declarations;Scan paper materials to save as an image file (eg, .PDF);Conduct responsiveness reviews of both ESI and paper materials;Conduct legal privilege reviews using Symantec Clearwell, Adobe Pro withRedax, or other document review platforms provided by the customer;Analyze documents and proficiently apply deletion codes to diverse types of privileged information;Review the work of peers for accuracy and provide constructive edits to ensure quality and thoroughness of review and processing;Support effective teams to foster teamwork and planning and decision making;Organize and maintain accurate records of assigned requests. This includes keeping detailed case notes, utilizing discovery plans, using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and entering case information into appropriate databases;Prepare electronic and/or paper releases for release to customers;Provide a high degree of professionalism and customer service in all interactions with DMS customers;Prioritize and schedule projects to accomplish objectives;Coordinate classification reviews with subject matter experts;Maintain close collaboration of projects with discovery team members;Serve as consultant to government employees regarding privilege application and document production;Communicate with employees at all levels to complete projects with a high degree of professionalism;Provide weekly statuses to management and periodic updates to Assistants, General Counsels and other DMS customersConduct searches of the customer's systems and databases to retrieve responsive documents or files (ie, Sentinel, Internal Policy Office Policy Library and Policy Archives).QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Must have an active Top Secret clearance with SSBI and SCI eligibility.Two (2) or more years of Discovery/eDiscovery paralegal experience.One (1) or more years of progressively more responsible experience performing privilege and other substantive reviews on litigation support projects.
