They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.Ensures assigned team: Works all encounters received from providers; Reviews all encounters, electronic or paper for accuracy; Monitors work ques, and effectively communicates across all entities. Review and corrects coding rejections. Responsible for coding ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes from written documentation. In depth knowledge of coding rules and payer guidelines. Responsible for coding E/M outpatient and inpatient services. Surgical Coding knowledge is a plus. May perform internal auditing functions. Maintain a high level of performance in department productivity and accuracy. Effectively communicated coding trends and documentation requirements with physicians and practice managers. Provides training for new coders. Assists staff when manager is not available. Assists Manager in allocating workload to staff when requested. Assists Manager with departmental reporting/special projects. III. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required Certification as a CPC or CCS-P required. CPMA certification required within one year of hire. Five (5) years' experience in production coding in a surgical setting or in a physician practice environment required. Outpatient professional fee revenue cycle management experience preferred. What You Need to Be Successful: Minimum Qualifications: IV. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of medical record practices, state and federal laws relating to release of medical information. Working knowledge of CPC or CCS-P coding systems, medical terminology to understand diagnoses and procedures, and the content and organization of a medical record. Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office software applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required. Ability to maintain a culture of excellent customer service, open and friendly staff relations and approachable demeanor with all levels of staff. Effective verbal and written communication and listening skills are required to interact with various individuals seeking accounting-related information.
