Works as part of the Division of Domestic and Sexual Violence Services (DSVS) to coordinate services and operations of the Hospital Accompaniment Program and Hospital Accompaniment Support Advocates (HASA). ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Hospital Accompaniment Program Specialist is a member of the Community Engagement Services Team, works from Inova Fairfax Hospital, and travels throughout Fairfax County. A flexible schedule is required for primarily evening, overnight, and weekend hours to meet programs needs and provide on-call coverage on a rotational basis. Under the supervision of the Community Engagement Services Supervisor, perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Provides hospital accompaniment and support to victims of domestic and/or sexual violence seeking forensic examinations (including Sexual Assault Nursing Examinations and Intimate Partner Violence examinations) through the Inova Fairfax Hospital Forensic Assessment Consultation Team
  • Advocates for victims, conducts safety planning, and shares information about resources and service planning
  • Assists with the development and implementation of hospital accompaniment policies and procedures
  • Serves as liaison and lead advocate to the HASA program
  • Helps develop and maintain the HASA schedule
  • Develops outreach materials and presents educational programming on domestic and sexual violence prevention, education, and outreach
  • Assist with the management of hospital accompaniment data
  • Completes and maintains records and statistics
  • Shares responsibility for planning and implementing activities and events throughout the year for sexual assault awareness
  • Assists with the expansion of the Hospital Accompaniment Program
    Performs other duties as assigned

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus two years of professional social work experience. A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Contingent upon the area of assignment, some positions within this class may require specific certification(s) prior to employment and/or the ability to acquire necessary certification(s) within a specified time period following employment. The certifications are identified in the position description and employment advertisement .

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background, a driving record check, and a Child Protective Services check to the satisfaction of the employer.

All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in social work (MSW) or a related human services degree
  • At least 2 years of experience working within the human services field
  • At least 2 years of experience with community engagement, conducting outreach, and delivery of trainings and presentations
  • At least 1 year of experience working within the domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to use automated technology. Must be able to transport self and equipment to different worksites or locations, as needed. Must be able to lift 15lbs. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
