Job Announcement
Performs general repair and maintenance of architectural and structural systems in county buildings. Items such as doors, windows, floors, walls ceiling stairs, office furniture, shelving, roof repairs and other related work. Safely operates, cleans, maintains and stores a variety of stationery and hand tools, inspects facilities to identify architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing deficiencies, also conducts building safety inspections. Prepares work requests for all necessary architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs and maintenance, coordinates with facility users to correct deficiencies in building systems.
Note: This position is considered "Emergency Service Personnel".
Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade; plus completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program in a specific trade with one year of experience performing building maintenance, repair and/or construction work independently, or two years of varied and responsible full performance-level experience in building maintenance, repair or construction trades.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years building maintenance experience. Strong knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical and HVAC.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's License (Required)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks after the last required dose) as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date . Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs may be subject to a weekly testing requirement. Vaccinated employees and employees with a medical or religious exemption will complete the attestation online on their first day of employment or shortly thereafter.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check and pre-employment medical evaluation to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to climb extension ladder and scaffolds up to 50 feet in height. Must be able to lift up and carry up to 75 pounds with assistance of dolly, lift or staff. Must be able to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for an extended period of time. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
