Risk Manager, Credit Solutions- Data Analysis and Reporting

As a Risk Manager in the Commercial Bank's Credit Solutions team, you will apply your leadership, and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management efforts to ensure Capital One's continued success. You will act as a thought leader to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions for operational, regulatory, fraud, legal and other non-credit risks. Managers in Credit Solutions collaborate with the Line of Business, second and third line executives, and associates to develop and implement well-managed risk practices.

Managers in Risk Management at Capital One are highly motivated professionals with excellent organizational, leadership, communication and influence skills. They are experienced in operating in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment and can balance the needs of multiple stakeholder groups. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with executives to create and implement innovative solutions that mitigate potential risks to the Company. Critical to success is the ability to think strategically, while maintaining attention to detail. As a Risk Manager for Credit Solutions, you will provide leadership and coordination between risk partners, outside agencies and internal support groups in prioritizing and implementing risk management efforts.

We are a data-driven teamfocused on creating a premier commercial credit data ecosystem that enables risk management for the Commercial Bank. To accomplish our goals, we leverage some of the most modern platforms (Amazon AWS, GitHub), tool sets (QuickSight), scripting (SQL) & programming languages (Python). Be ready to work on many of the most challenging problems within Commercial Bank while unlocking new capabilities that enable our end goal of optimizing for risk management while Changing Banking for Good. Our team members independently lead data-driven projects from start to finish navigating white space problems from proposal to building the final solution into our commercial production environment, leveraging data as a tool to manage credit risk.

Additional responsibilities include the following:
  • Partner with software development teams to design and implement new applications to track loan portfolios and identify risk
  • Learn various programming languages including SQL and Python in order to better implement innovative risk management practices
  • Monitor the risk landscape and industry trends to infuse new ideas and approaches, and provide reporting on current industry trends and their impact to the Bank
  • Perform assessments on critical business processes to proactively identify potential risks to the business and work with key stakeholders
  • Provide strategic management of critical audit and regulatory needs through deep engagement with LOB and second and third line SMEs
  • Engagement in Special Projects as necessary
  • Use analytical and process management skills to identify opportunities to improve risk management processes across the various lines of defenses


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of leveraging data and technology to improve risk outcomes.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Engineering, Math, Physics or Economics or 10 years of Credit Risk Management experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a strategic or analytical role
  • Project management or business consulting experience
  • Data analysis or data science experience
