Senior Payroll Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for payroll administration including overseeing all aspects of the processing of payroll. The position requires expertise in Paycor, ADP or other mainstream payroll processing software. They will ensure payment is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for both salaried and hourly employees. They will also comply with all state and federal regulations as it pertains to timekeeping, tax payments, and any garnishments or levies. They will assist the Payroll Manager and other team members in all levels of payroll/HR-related tasks to provide the best customer service to the employees and management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Process and administer employee benefit invoices Research and administer unemployment claims Gross to net payroll processing and tax filing Associated banking functions as related to payroll processing COBRA administration and processing Employment verification for terminated employees HRIS (Payroll) system administration for 150+ employees in 20+ states Special related projects Timesheet administration for payroll purposes Prepares all payroll related reports Prepare journal entry for posting payroll to the accounting system Manage timely retirement deposits to the 401k plan Must be able to review timecards, compute wages, reconcile wages, overtime, and other types of pay with accuracy and compliance Post, update and reconcile all employee-related payroll deductions (garnishments, tax levies, child support orders, etc.) Research and resolve any payroll tax notices from various government agencies Act as backup to Human Resources for benefit functions Make pay adjustments, processing merit increases, bonuses, and commissions and an understanding of required payroll laws Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payrollQUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of financial accounting experience is required.Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications such as: Excel, Word, and Outlook Expertise in Paycor, ADP, and or other know payroll system Knowledge of NetSuite is a PLUSCertificates and Licenses: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferredSupervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
