We are hiring immediately for a General Ledger Accountant to join the team (Accounting Division of Finance Department) immediately. This group is focused on recording daily revenue and expenditures and reconciling our bank accounts to the GL. This is going to be a 100% on site role for about 3 months, with the potential for longer term if the candidate is a good fit. Below are the responsibilities:Receives information such as general ledger interface totals from subsidiary revenue systems and pre-coded daily bank statements and uses this information to complete and enter journal entries to record daily cash activity.Performs detailed analyses of accounts, conferring with Finance Department staff and fiscal staff in other departments to make adjusting entries to reconcile the accounts.Assists with maintaining other accounting data such as fixed asset sub-ledgers.Performs other related duties as assigned.We are looking for at least some experience completing GL journal entries and account reconciliations, not just AP or AR workIdeally the candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, experience with general ledger journal entries, and intermediate skill in Excel. Minimum Requirements5 years of experience in GENERAL accounting - general ledger, bank reconciliation, full cycle accountingnot someone who is just doing AP / AR or a clerkIdeally this person is coming from local government, or a company where they have multi-fund revenue streamsExperience with debits and creditsSTRONG excel experienceGood communication and ability to ask questions and do research if they need information Desired SkillsBachelors degreeLocal government experience
