Overview: The primary responsibility of this position is to execute set-up and transactional activities related to payroll processing and administration of payroll deductions and taxes, including data entry, data import/export, data validation and reconciliation, standard tax report preparation and submission, and resolution of escalated employee requests and issues. The Payroll and Tax Specialist will generally complete assignments with a higher degree of complexity relative to the Payroll Specialist, such as preparation of 401(k) reporting, quarterly and year-end tax filing, and W-2 forms, reconciliation of monthly bank statements and ledgers, and providing backup for other accounting operations and advising junior staff. Responsibilities: Source data via download or export, review, validate, enter and import payroll and deduction related data into applicable systems as required, transmit direct deposit and payroll files, document activities according to established proceduresPrepare more complex payroll reporting including 401(k), quarterly and year-end payroll taxes and filing, annual W-2 forms, update and maintain tax proceduresReview and prepare check requests for benefits, deductions, and tax payments, set-up wage garnishment orders and payments, reconcile monthly bank statements and general ledger accountsResearch and resolve more complex and escalated employee issues, escalate the most complex issues to managementExamine, diagnose and execute testing for broader system issues and upgrades, complete assigned tasks associated with organizational change, mergers and acquisitionsTrain and advise junior staff Qualifications: EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)Experience4 or more years Payroll and/or Accounting. (Required) : This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager.
