The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Foundation is seeking a Senior Director who is passionate about American agriculture to lead Foundation programming. This position will have the opportunity to travel across the US to build relationships and collaborate with leaders from state departments of agriculture from all 50 states and four US territories, other nonprofit organizations, and government entities. ABOUT THE POSITION The essential functions include but are not limited to: Increase the Foundation's visibility and relevance to make it a sought-after resource. Lead the development and implementation of the Foundation's programs in alignment with the strategic plan. Supervise Foundation program staff. Spearhead ongoing efforts to enhance NASDA member participation, support, and loyalty to the Foundation. Oversee federal cooperative agreements and ensure adherence to program goals and compliance requirements. Cultivate federal financial support for foundation activities through grants and cooperative agreements that align with the Foundation's strategic plan. Amplify and steward program and financial support from private industry partners. Work closely with the Senior Management Team to execute NASDA and the Foundation's Strategic Plan goals. QUALIFICATIONS 8+ years of experience in nonprofit programs including grant and cooperative agreement management. 4+ years of supervisory experience. Basic understanding of how state departments of agriculture function and serve their agricultural communities. Demonstrated ability to build and leverage strategic relationships with members, stakeholders, partners, and other relevant organizations to enhance programs and raise funds. Proven ability to make formal, persuasive presentations to the board of directors, the agriculture community, other nonprofit organizations, private industry, and decision-makers. Project management experience. Ability to multi-task in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment. Superior oral and written communication skills. Capacity to work as an influential member of a team. A college degree is required. A BA/BS or advanced degree in agriculture, food, and(or) natural resources is desirable. WORK SCHEDULE This full-time, exempt position works at NASDA headquarters at 4350 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington, VA, two blocks from the Ballston Metro Station (orange and silver lines). We offer a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office and two days working from home.
