Responsibilities Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized consulting engineering firm has a position available for a full-time entry level transportation planner to work on transportation projects in our Transportation Planning Department. Transportation Planning is an exciting field which offers a unique opportunity to develop, test, and refine innovative solutions to transportation problems from a project's inception, through to advanced design stages. Responsibilities include planning, analysis and designs for multiple transportation facilities including roadways, bridges, sidewalks, trails, traffic control devices, airports, and transit facilities. A valid driver's license and some travel is required. Specific duties may include: * Conduct traffic studies such as traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrants, parking studies, traffic safety studies and traffic calming. * Perform traffic analysis by developing and calibrating deterministic and simulation-based traffic models such as Synchro, HCS, SIDRA, and Vissim. * Perform travel demand modeling using software such as CUBE, VISUM, TRANSCAD for project-level traffic forecasts and conducting alternatives analyses. * Perform feasibility and alternatives analysis for intersection and roadway designs including developing conceptual and preliminary geometric designs. * Perform field inventories and measurements of roadway/ traffic conditions. * Prepare technical reports and presentations. * Assist in representing company at technical meetings and public meetings. Qualifications Successful candidates must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation planning or other related degree from an ABET accredited college or university or the ability to obtain within nine months of hire. The ideal candidate will possess any/all of the following: * strong analytical skills * knowledge of freeway and intersection capacity analysis principles * knowledge of roadway design, transportation planning/ data collection experience * technical writing/ effective communication * traffic engineering coursework * knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation software programs If you are self-motivated, and can work well both independently and as part of a team, complete the online application process for this job posting at www.meadhunt.com/careers OR submit your cover letter and resume (and the pdf application if possible) to the address below.
