The Boeing Company is seeking a (first level) Software Engineering Manager based out of any of the following locations: Tukwila WA, Colorado Springs CO, El Segundo CA, Huntington Beach CA, Huntsville AL, Mesa AZ, Arlington VA, or Berkeley MO. The Boeing Company is seeking a software engineering manager to join the Engineering, Test, and Technology (ET&T) organization to lead software engineering teams as part of an Enterprise-level effort to revolutionize software development processes and products at Boeing. This initiative represents the future direction for Boeing software development and many programs will adopt the products and approaches pioneered by this effort. This role will manage software development teams, with the primary responsibility of building a virtual integration and test lab framework for software development environments in the cloud. As a member of the ET&T team, you will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from idea creation, budgeting and planning, development, all the way through to deployment and support of the architectures and products produced by the team. This position will place you in a role where you have the opportunity to make significant impact on software products and teams across Boeing. You will be responsible for a geographically dispersed team of engineers and technical specialists working closely with other Program teams and Enterprise teams to design, implement, deploy, and maintain virtual lab frameworks and features in the cloud. You will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment to create a cloud-based integration and test framework for all levels of automated test. You will integrate hardware virtualization, simulation frameworks, and on-prem lab assets, and facilitate the adoption of the environment by other Boeing teams. You will be responsible for developing and growing the team to successfully implement and ultimately help promote positive change throughout software development at Boeing. You will have the opportunity to learn from and lead others while driving quality, efficiency, safety, and security into Boeing's software products and processes. Position Responsibilities: Build and lead teams to support long term business needs for automated test in the cloud Promote a diverse and inclusive work environment Collaborate with our IT, cybersecurity, and engineering colleagues to ensure cost-effective, timely, and secure development and deployment of virtual lab solutions Develop and execute budget and staffing plans Remove hurdles and roadblocks for the teams Manage, develop, and motivate employees while modeling the Boeing Behaviors Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, evaluations, products, and processes Collaborate with teams across the enterprise to promote and deploy common solutions This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelors Degree or higher 3+ years of proven execution-driven leadership or management experience Software development or lab integration and test experience Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Proven ability to build successful teams from the ground up 5+ years of combined software development or lab integration experience Experience with agile software development practices Experience working on team strategies and roadmaps Ability to engage with senior leadership, technical team members, and varied Boeing business and external stakeholders Ability to identify the right skills for the right projects, experience coaching and mentoring peers and/or reports to continuous learning and improvement Experience with CI/CD concepts and automation, including debugging, test, and integration of software tools Experience establishing or developing in cloud environments Experience in embedded or real-time systems Strong communication skills and a self-starter that can thrive in a distributed remote work environment Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
