Job Summary
Aptive Resources is seeking a Communications and Marketing Specialist in support of the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and proactive problem solver with previous experience in marketing consulting, preferably for federal clients. They are committed to providing superior service, poised under fast-paced pressure and have a positive and flexible attitude. They will lead and support innovative communications and marketing programs across a variety of platforms, and they will ensure themes, messages and desired outcomes are consistent across media channels.
They are an integral part of the development and execution of marketing and communication plans to reach a variety of target audiences, bringing expertise in areas from brand awareness to program promotion. The ability to provide multidisciplinary expertise for both strategic and operational communications for internal and external stakeholders will be key. An outstanding candidate will be passionate about the field and well-versed in specialized marketing concepts, principles and tactics.
This mid-level, full time remote position.

Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans.
- Research, write, edit and coordinate a broad range of communications/outreach materials (e.g., articles, blogs, brochures, fact sheets, flyers, media pitches, mobile apps, outreach scripts, social media posts, videos, websites) under strict deadlines.
- Identify, advise, and provide the Government with recommendations in response to changes in existing activities or emergent requirements that are measurable and specific.
- Develop content for a variety of digital communications platforms.
- Assist in identifying and executing a variety of communication and outreach techniques that describe the purposeful application, target audience, and key messaging to meet client objectives.
- Assist in generating measurable outcomes based on client objectives utilizing contemporary communication strategies and techniques.
- Undertake individual tasks of a communication plan as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in strategic communications, marketing, public relations, and/or content development.
- Bachelor's degree in a related program, such as mass communications, marketing, advertising, public relations or journalism.
- Consulting experience supporting large, complex Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Defense.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of elements of communications and marketing strategy, including traditional and digital forms (such as SEO and social media) and market research methods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven expertise in strategic communications, public relations, public affairs, research, writing and editing.
- Proficiency in organizing, communicating information, and scheduling and leading meetings with c-suite level stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with website content development and website content audits a plus.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Detail-oriented, analytical multitasker; capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done.
- Experience supporting large federal agencies.
