POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this position will take on greater ownership and ensure the integrity of assigned accounting functions as well as financial reporting functions. This includes other related duties that may be assigned from time to time. Responsibility includes overseeing and/or assisting with preparation of various processes related to functions within the accounting department, monthly financial statements and financial reports on a timely basis. JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 1. Under the minimal direction of the Financial Reporting Manager performs general accounting functions including maintaining certain accounting records, journal entries and other related duties in the daily administration of the accounting department. (daily) 2. Ownership of Budget vs Actual reporting for Shimadzu's Secretary Treasurer (Monthly) 3. Oversee the process of accounting for Operational Leases and their impact on the financial statements. This includes research, data pulling, spreadsheet maintenance and journal entry preparation. (quarterly) 4. Bank reconciliations on payroll accounts to include garnishments, direct deposit, payroll taxes, live checks (semi-monthly/monthly) 5. Ownership of the review and reconciliations of CBIZ flex ACH debits and credits to payroll entries. (semi-monthly/monthly) 6. Run self-funding medical claim reports and conduct medical bank account reconciliations. (semi-monthly/monthly) 7. Initiate wire transfers and maintain balance of self-funding medical bank account. (weekly) 8. Report on and track progress on targeted A/R accounts (intercompany related) (weekly/semi-monthly) 9. Process all Debit and Credit Memos in Great Plains (Daily) 10. Main point within accounting for all miscellaneous reclasses (including concur reclass requests from the regions) (as needed) 11. Ownership of FTE trending schedule (monthly) 12. Ownership of Shimadzu Scientific Instruments' Organizational Chart (monthly) 13. Run daily credit card reports out of Great Plains and update tracking spreadsheet (daily) 14. Calculate commission accrual for third party reps. (monthly) 15. Initiate wire transfer payments of commissions to third party reps (as needed) 16. Assist with deferred revenue calculation within Great Plains to include revenue recognition. (weekly/semi-monthly/monthly) 17. Maintain ownership of multiple other accrued balance sheet account reconciliations. (monthly) SCOPE: This position is responsible for company compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory agencies. Accounting Practices (GAAP) Communication Skills Organizational Skills PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent is required to exercise independent judgment / ownership in day - to - day matters governed by company policy. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent is required to have a minimum of an associated degree, while a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting is preferred. Incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting. CPA highly preferred. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct reports. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires physical demands which may include frequent bending; stooping, squatting, talking, standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards. Incumbent is required to follow proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is based in an office area that requires regular and predictable attendance. It will involve working alone on projects and collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at different workstations during the day and travel to regional locations in order to support the accounting needs of all company employees. Extra hours may periodically be required, in order to fulfill the functions required by this position.
