ResponsibilitiesTemporary Contract Registered Nurse (RN) 3 month or 6 month Assignments Available- $60.00/per hour + Shift DifferentialThese opportunities are 40 hours Monday-Friday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm to include every other weekend. Positions are temporary and non-benefitted. Rockford Center is a 138-bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing easy access to a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. There are very robust continuing education options and opportunities for skills diversification and career advancement with UHS.Essential Job Duties:Complies with Rockford Center patient care policies/proceduresComplies with time and attendance polices of Rockford Center.Conducts ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned and as dictated by the patient''s condition in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.When administering PRN medications, assess for confirmed med for PRN, documents need (rationale) and its effectiveness in the medical record. Reports change in patient physical, mental status or episodes of seclusion or restraint to nurse manager or supervisor during each shift. Ensures family and physician notification is completed and documented if a patient is transported to Emergency Room, Injured, Falls or is Placed in Seclusion or Restraints.Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care.Performs treatments and therapies as ordered by physician in an appropriate and timely fashion.Documents patient care, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.Documents PRN medications given, reason and effect Initiates emergency measures according to age appropriate CPR and client resuscitation protocols.Participates in emergency crisis interventions according to age appropriate techniques. Maintains confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility and staff in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.Maintains competency by participating in continuing education programs and meets state specific plies with accepted ethical conduct and professional Standards of Nursing Practice as set forth by the American Nurses Association or equivalent national organization. Participates in the Customer Service Program promoting respect and professional interaction with patients, families, and peers.Administer patient medications as prescribed by physician. Assessing Vital signs and accu-checks prior to dispensing medicationsProvide education to patients on their prescribed medications, documenting this in the patient record.Consistently engages and interacts with our patients and their families by using the treatment principles of Trauma Responsive Care, as demonstrated by the following: 1. A basic recognition of the characteristic symptoms resulting from exposure to trauma, 2. Having an understanding of and sensitivity to the triggers of trauma and trauma re-enactment, 3. Incorporating relevant skill sets into daily interactions with patients and families, and 4. Participates in continuing education on Trauma Responsive Care and plete nursing admission assessments and daily nursing assessments.Transcription of medication orders in a timely, error free manner, and ensuring reason for PRN medication is plete Adverse Drug Reaction forms and forward to plete First Dose form as ordered by physician.Ensure order clarification of non-formulary medication if ordered. Obtaining appropriate order.Provide patient education related to medications and document education.Assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living.Participate in group activity with patients.Ensures room searches are done for contraband during shift.Direct and assist mental health clinicians in the care and direction of patient.Assists in the completion of patient rounds and monitoring patient safety.Participate in hospital emergency codes necessary to the unit''s and the hospital''s safe operation.Will adhere to all safety policies and safe work plete 24 hour chart checks, ensure filing is completed, charts are stamped, MARs are copied correctly on 11-7 and shift chart checks on 7-3 and 3-11.Performs other duties as assigned by Charge Nurse or as assigned on the Assignment sheet.Keep current with Nursing and hospital information by reading all memos, frequently checking in mailboxes, and attending hospital and unit meetings.Full-time employees will attend 8 unit meetings and PRN must attend 6 unit meetingsQualificationsRegistered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:Attendance of accredited vocational school for RNs and a current State of Delaware RN License.Minimum of 1 year experience as an RN in a clinical setting preferred.
