Who we are hiring: DevOps Lead/Architect Job Description: HHS Technology Group seeks to hire a DevOps Lead/Architect as an internal product team employee to manage and provide guidance to our team of DevOps Engineers who are deployed on multiple initiatives. This DevOps Lead can also expect to participate in key solutions delivery initiatives with state government and federal government clients as a senior and critical member of our professional services team. This DevOps Lead/Architect can expect to be actively involved in ensuring the success of our team of DevOps engineers in the areas of: deploying and configuring services using infrastructure as a service (IaaS) providers (eg, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud (GCP), Rackspace/OpenStack) ; configure and manage Linux-based servers to serve a dynamic website; debug cluster-based computing architectures; use scripting or basic programming skills to solve problems; install and manage open source monitoring tools; use configuration management tools (eg, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt); Develop architecture for continuous integration and deployment, and continuous monitoring; and use containerization technologies (eg, LXC, Docker, Rocket). Must have: Strong knowledge in Linux & shell scripting Well-versed with containerization technologies and Docker/Kubernetes ecosystem Strong knowledge of setting up cloud infrastructure & services using best practices Well-versed in AWS services like EC2, VPC, ELB, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS, SNS, SQS Good knowledge of working with Container and Docker/Kubernetes` services like ECS, EKS, AKS Familiarity with service configuration and provisioning with tools like Chef/Ansible/Puppet, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS OpsWorks Well-versed with version control using Git and concepts like hooks, actions, branching, tagging, release management, hotfixes etc. Experienced in creating & maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, AWS CodeDeploy, AWS CodePipeline, Azure DevOps Pipelines etc. Strong understanding of infrastructure and application logging using tools like CloudWatch Logs, CloudTrail, ELK etc. Experience of setting up and manage monitoring and alerting using tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, Nagios etc. Good to have: Certifications in AWS/Azure, Linux administration, CKA etc. Experience of working with AWS Security services like GuardDuty, WAF, Shield, ARM Templates etc. The DevOps Lead/Architect will engineer and ensure optimization of software development performance and design for online, and mission critical application(s) supported 24x7. This Architect role entails managing and delegation to remaining DevOps team, as well as all direct client interfacing activity including managing change requests, cost negotiations for change requests. Another important element of this essential and critical role is the ability to present to executive level client stakeholders including progress on deliveries and proposed solutions to minimize slippage. Supporting duties include, but are not limited to: Analyzing and baselining configurable items with Linux-based systems. Monitoring and fine-tuning performance of Linux-based systems by reviewing performance and system logs and resolving issues. Modeling and baselining database configuration items. Network administration; and/or Maintaining systems logs and complying with all hardware/software license requirements. As this individual is responsible for managing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) of incremental changes to systems while adhering to Agile methodology, they must also possess impeccable verbal and written communication to perform the following key elements of this role: Analyzing, documenting, and presenting critical information and updates to executive level stakeholders. Such documentation activities include but are not limited to: Service Asset and Configuration reports, Monthly Capacity Management Reports, Project Plans, and updating State Business Continuity plans and strategy. Build and use an automated dashboard to accurately report KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs). Responsible for the assessment of business requirements, ensuring compliance with contract deliverables and collection and identification of technical specifications, influencing tactical strategies, and ensuring the subsequent development of technical solutions utilizing a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and industry standard tools. The DevOps Lead/Architect and the DevOps SMEs engage in conversation with the respective customer teams to analyze the current DevOps capabilities and current tools usage across an enormous enterprise with the goal of optimizing the maturity level of DevOps approaches and procedures across the organization. The DevOps Lead/Architect and the team analyze the existing applications for CI/CD scope and estimate the enterprise applications that can be part of CI/CD. Identification of applications for the DevOps adoption is carried out based on the inputs provided by stakeholders and high-level analysis. A roadmap is developed to implement new DevOps processes, to improve the existing processes and the list of tools is identified as part of the planning stage.
