The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Assistant Director to join the Masters Programs Office. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.

This position will oversee all activities, programs and complete operations of the OMBA and Flex MBA programs, as well as work closely with all constituents in the development and delivery of all MBA programs at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. The Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight of OMBA/Flex MBA program delivery and academic advising, and management of OMBA/Flex student onboarding (Admitted Student Website, Summer Mailings and Opening Residencies). This individual will serve as the primary liaison between faculty, staff, and student support for the OMBA/Flex programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for the supervision and training of professional staff (Program Managers, student workers, etc.). Development of Student Track Representatives and student programming fall directly under this position. The Assistant Director will also work closely with the Part-Time MBA Association and VP of Online Programs to ensure high levels of student satisfaction. Furthermore, the Assistant Director is responsible for managing all communications between students and staff, ensuring students are up to date on all important and pertinent program information.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required with 4-7 years progressive experience in a professional environment 2+ years of experience coordinating events, conferences, or management training programs. Mature judgment; proven ability to integrate ideas and concepts; proven ability to make effective use of time, plan ahead, and coordinate multiple projects; highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail; friendly, flexible, service oriented manner. Demonstrated proactive customer service attitude and skills; proven ability to respond positively to pressures of time and workload; strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency with computers, including email and Microsoft Office suite; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; project management skills; ability to work in a highly independent manner. Ability and willingness to work extended hours as required, including evenings and weekends; ability to travel to Flex MBA campus locations (Baltimore, Rockville and Washington, DC) as needed. Preferences: Master’s degree preferred.
