Manager, Cybersecurity – Compliance

Plans, manages, and coordinates various compliance-related activities and programs focused on information security, data privacy, and cybersecurity policies for Fairfax County Public Schools' (FCPS); works closely with the broader governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) team within the Office of Cybersecurity and oversees the work of a team of compliance analysts ensuring all best practices related to information security and data privacy are followed in the Division; exercises leadership to design, implement, assess, and revise program.



  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information security, or a related field.
  • Six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience in planning, design, implementation and deployment of information technology related projects, some of which is related to information security, compliance, audit and/or risk management, two (2) years of which shall have been in a lead capacity or with supervisory responsibilities.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • May be required to work evening, holidays, and weekends.
  • Knowledge of theories, procedures, practices, materials, and methods related to cybersecurity compliance.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal privacy laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, PCI-DSS compliance frameworks.
  • Skill in analytics and reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to create standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Ability to handle sensitive user data and information.
  • Ability to plan, manage, evaluate, and supervise programs and personnel.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams in multiple projects.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships across the Division.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  


  • Experience working in security frameworks.
